Let us introduce you to some of the Islands' highlights...

Valletta, named after Grand Master La Valette who commissioned its building after the Great Siege of 1565. Walking along the streets of the vibrant UNESCO heritage site is an experience in itself.
St. John’s Co-Cathedral and its Museum, featuring the famous Beheading of St. John by Michelangelo Merisi di Caravaggio. The Grand Master’s Palace and the Armoury, with the National Library - housing the documents of the Knights - is nearby.
Auberge De Castille, now the Prime Minister’s Office and Auberge d’Italie, in upper Merchant’s Street, whilst Auberge de Provence in Republic Street is the seat of the National Museum of Archaeology. Auberge de Baviere, overlooking Marsamxett Harbour and near to War Museum and Fort St. Elmo.
Worth visiting are the National Museum of Fine Arts; St. James Cavalier, a fortress now the Centre for Creativity; the Manoel Theatre, the second oldest theatre still in use in Europe; Sacra Infermeria, now the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
The Upper Barrakka Gardens and the Lower Barrakka Gardens provide breathtaking views of Grand Harbour.
 

Mdina: the “Silent City” or “Citta Vecchia” (the old city). Malta’s open-air museum.
Must visit: St. Paul’s Cathedral and its Museum housing mediaeval art and a collection of woodcuts by Dürer. Vilhena Palace and the Natural History Museum.
 
Rabat: The Roman Villa from 1st century AD. St. Paul’s & St. Agatha’s Catacombs, 4th - 7th century AD. Verdala Palace & Buskett Gardens built by Grand Master de Verdalle as summer residence.
 
Dingli Cliffs: The highest point of the island.
 
Attard: San Anton Palace & Gardens.
 
Mosta: The Rotunda and Ta Qali Crafts Village.
 
Golden Bay: Malta's picturesque west-facing sandy beach for beautiful sunsets.
 
Bugibba, Qawra: The "in-place" for swimmers in Summer and St. Paul’s Bay: Bars, restaurant and a Casino.
 
Paceville: The ideal venue for those "young at heart".
 
Sliema & St. Julian's: Shopping, restaurants & Cafes.
 
The Three Cities: Senglea (Isla), Vittoriosa (Birgu) Cospicua (Bormla) abound in history. Places to visit: The Maritime Museum; Inquisitor’s Palace; Fort Angelo; Gnien il-Gardjola; Fort Rinella - late 19th century coastal fort known for its 100-ton gun.
 

Tarxien: The Hypogeum prehistoric underground burial place and the Neolithic Temples, 3800 - 2200 BC.
 

Birzebbugia: Ghar Dalam Prehistoric Cave and the legendary Ghar Hasan.
 
Marsaxlokk: Malta’s main Fishing Village.
 
Zurrieq: Blue Grotto and megalithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra.
 

Gozo: The island of Calypso with an enchanting, distinct character.
 
Places to visit: Mgarr Harbour; Cittadella; Basilica of St. George and It-Tokk in Victoria; Ta' Pinu Sanctuary; Ggantija prehistoric temples, 3600 - 3000 BC.
Worth discovering the magic of Dwejra with its Azure Window, Fungus Rock, and Inland Sea; Calypso Cave overlooking ir-Ramla l-Hamra; Marsalforn and Xlendi bays; Lunzjata Valley and the countryside ideal for walking tours; the Belvedere at Nadur and Ta’ Dbiegi Crafts Village.
Museums: Archaeology, Natural History and Cathedral Folklore Museum at the Citadel, Victoria; Ta’ Kola Windmill Museum, Xaghra.
 

Comino: Where secret bays surround the island of the fascinating Blue Lagoon.
 
Some helpful hints for a more enjoyable holiday...

• Always lock your car when parked. Do not leave luggage and valuables visible inside parked vehicles.
• Security facilities for safekeeping of passports, cash and valuables are available in most hotels. Use them!
• Driving is on the left. Therefore, look right before crossing a road. Always use pedestrian crossings and keep to the kerb.
• Inquire and agree on a fare before you enter a taxi. Information on approximate taxi fares can be obtained during office hours from Tourist Information Offices in Malta and Gozo.
• When driving, remember that the speed limit on motorways is 80 km/hr (50 mph). The limit in urban areas is 50 km/hr (30 mph).
• Whenever you use public transport see that you pay the correct fare. Keep small change available.
• Whenever you go on long country walks, plan your itinerary carefully. When trekking, keep to established footpaths. Do not walk through cultivated land or areas marked RTO. During the open season such areas are reserved for game hunting.
• Malta’s beaches and sea are safe. However, if you are new to Malta, swim where the Maltese do.
• When diving or snorkelling, always make your presence noted by the international recognised "Blue/White flagged buoy".
