The attached press release was circulated by Transgender Europe to mark Transgender Day of Rememberance 2009.  The day is meant for reflection and commemoration of transgender individuals who had their life cut short by rabid hatred and subsequent murder.
 
The press release affirms that around 162 cases of murder of transgender people have been reported during the last 12 months.  A considerable number of others are thought to have gone unreported.
