London-based Pink Singers join ZHN Symphonik for 'Sounds of Diversity' Concert at City Theatre, Valletta

The Pink Singers - an established, London-based gay choir, and ZHN Symphonik Choir - an emerging local choir and band spreading a message in favour of equality and social justice, will be holding a joint concert titled 'Sounds of Diversity', on Saturday 18th July, 2009 at The City Theatre in Old Bakery Street, Valletta.

Sounds of Diversity will be presented as a prominent part of DiversCITY Week, organised by the Malta Gay Rights Movement every year. The main objective of this concert is to bring together people of different nations, ages, cultures, backgrounds and sexual orientations to produce a fun-packed event that should appeal to all music lovers, young and old. The two-part program will feature Symphonik during one half of the show, and The Pink Singers during the other. The program will include songs from a wide variety of genres and eras, including classic rock tunes, well-known pop titles, soundtracks, new-age music, classical music as well as original material written by the cast members.

Preparations for the event started at the beginning of the year and are now well underway. The three parties have been working collaboratively to set up logistics and create a rich program that includes something for everyone. Symphonik's musical director Stephen Ferrito and band leader Malcolm Bonnici have been working hard to create their musical arrangements, while the choir and band have been meeting up to rehearse every week. Meanwhile, The Pink Singers started rehearsing their Summer 2009 repertoire in February, most of which will be featured within Sounds of Diversity, and have already performed in London, Edinburgh and Paris this year.

Tickets, selling at €12 each, can be booked through the ticket hotlines (ZHN 79593297, MGRM 99255559) and collected from our offices (ZHN in Floriana, MGRM in Mosta) or at the door.

If pre-booked, groups may request a group ticket valid for six people for the price of five. Individual tickets will also be available at the door before the performance.

Since the concert is expected to last around 3 hours, the show may not be ideal for very young children and therefore children under the age of 5 will not be admitted.
