The ILGA-Europe Conference hosted by MGRM in the last days of October has successfully come to an end. The organisation of such a big event - with around 300 participants hailing from around 48 countries - took a lot of time and energy, but it was indeed a very successful event enjoyed by organisers and participants alike.
A delegation of ILGA-Europe staff and board, and MGRM volunteers also had the possibility to meet the President of Malta in an official visit. It was the first time that participants met a head of state during an ILGA-Europe conference.
A Transgender Rights Conference was also hosted on Wednesday 28th October. Hon. Gino Cauchi gave an opening speech inaugurating the Trans Rights Conference.
On Thursday 29th October, Hon Louis Galea, Hon Evarist Bartolo and Hon Francis Agius spoke during the inauguration of the ILGA-Europe Conference 2009.
All speeches delivered can be seen on ILGA-Europe's Youtube channel.

A special thanks goes out to all those who helped make this event a success, like the splendid staff at the Corinthia San Gorg and Corinthia Marina Hotels, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Dutch Government for providing scholarships for 7 activists from the Middle East and Northern Africa, the lovely staff at ILGA-Europe and the around 18 dedicated volunteers from MGRM who made this event possible!
